This is Austin: Ice Cream Festival, Top Trailers & a Metal BeeGee’s Cover Band

Why hello party trainers:

It’s been a busy week already… in fact I’ve been so busy going to things featured in amber demure’s free booze/food blog, that I havent had time to do this!  That’s the bad news… the good news is I’ve switched blog platforms!  That means no cut off words, crappy text issues, or bad formatting. Well, mostly. I’m going through my last 65 (65!!) blogs to make them more readable, less spacey, etc.  That said, I figure you want to get to the real content so, here goes!

Some cool events this week: Soul Rebels Brass Band, District 9 midnight screening, Feast for Julie & Julia, Gary Clark Jr. @ BYOB Joint, T Bird & The breaks at Mohawk & Cont Club, Live band Karaoke at Red 7, Reckless Kelly, Ice Cream fest, Ethnotekno Throwdown, a Beegees metal cover band, Woodstock Anniversary events , Testosterone Fest & not to be missed, the Full Moon Barn Dance!

Other fab stuff:

Welcome to the new blog 🙂  Let me know what you think! (The spacing gets a little wonky unless i bullet everything). Also, upcoming is no longer posted at the bottom — I’ll keep this page updated.

Yours in hard at work and hard at play,

Kelly

Reviews:

  • Doc’s Pflugerville: Finally, a bar that is not pluckers. Great deals & beanbag game (cornhole for you midwesterners). Even the $1 tacos were good. Try the grape reaper (max 2 J)
  • KG Sushi Train: This place was great! Sit down and your food comes to you on a conveyor belt. Not just sushi either… seaweed salad, miso soup, tempura, dumplings. Yum.
  • Grapevine Market: Never disappoints. Get the skinny with tomatoes and a side salad for $5. Prosciutto, cheese, crusty bread. Cheap!
  • Imperia: Impressed with the 2 for 1 happy hour. Lots of sushi for little $$. Drinks were mediocre (specialty martinis). Mojitos were served with sugar rim and sugarcane which I appreciate. Very dallas-y.
  • Fado: We’ve all been there… Drinks are decent if a little pricey but even on a hot night, the fans keep you cool and there is a great mix of people. Except for hipsters. That’s way too far west.
  • Taco Truck in on Lamar in front of Taqueria Chimaya (or something): Bistek tacos were delicious, double tortilla, glass bottle cokes, queso fresco, spicy salsa and a spanish lesson. All at 1:30 am. Who needs kerbey lane?
  • Sazon: Still the best margaritas I’ve had. No sweet and sour thank god. Food was amazing – corn chowder and pollo al carbon really well seasoned. Service was mediocre at best. At 8:30, really loud band started on the patio. What am i? A grandma? No… but you can’t enjoy your meal with a full scale rock band right next to your table.
